real bio

growing up in a blue collar suburb of washington, DC, music has always been a huge part of my life.  i was practically born in our little church in alexandria, va, and singing was just something you always did.  my sister plays piano and some of my fondest memories are of singing with her for hours on end around our piano at home.

by the time i was 14, he was leading worship at church and singing and playing his original songs there on a nearly weekly basis.  i remember i first wrote a song when i was about 13 and then realized i needed to learn to play an instrument so i could perform it.  soon i was spending all my spare time playing my guitar and working on
original music.

after college, i briefly pursued a full-time music career, achieving some small measure of success.  but the pressures of 'making it' in the music business soon took the enjoyment out of what i had so loved doing.  so, i left performing for a while, concentrating on a career as a sound engineer and playing occasionally for friends or in small groups.  very small.  like, usually just me.

but in late fall of 2002, i began to think about performing again.

during that time, i enjoyed a little bit of success in my 'reborn' musical career.  along the way i got to share the stage with some truly amazing artists, including eliot bronson, john flynn, brian gundersdorf, lea, lianna,  the
brindley brothers and countless others.  and i got to play some pretty nifty places, like jammin java, the riverdale bookshop, the pourhouse cafe', the frederick coffee company, and many more. i was also featured at several notable house concerts including the dawsonconcerts series, and 'concerts at the view', a series put on by michelle swan.

and now my musical journey has taken another rabbit trail, in many ways back to the beginning.  in the spring of 2009 i took a full-time position as the creative director and musical director for frederick christian fellowship church.  so now most of my musical time is spent preparing for, and performing in, a service for over a thousand people a week.  this new challenge is taking me places i never thought i'd be able to go.  and i'm excited to see what happens next...
all the stuff on here is my stuff...  i.e. copyright brian maddox, blah blah blah.   but if you want to use something, just ask...
